30th Birthday Fun!

So this is a small break from posting pics of Gretchen to post pics of my (Julia) 30th birthday. My birthday landed on a Thursday this year so the big celebration was delayed until Saturday. That's when my sister Chelsea and I went zip-lining (while Ben graciously stayed home with Gretchen)! The zip-line tour consisted of 7 lines. I wanted to do something adventurous for my 30th. Afterwards, my parents meet us all for dinner and Ben had a fun surprise for us. Read on to find out what it was (and to see pictures).

Julia next to the ZipIdaho van that took us into the hills to the lines.

Julia going across line and taking a video of the ride.

Julia on the same line still video taping.

Here's the video I took on this zip line.

Chelsea's getting ready to go across.

Here she goes.

Video of Chelsea coming across.
Video of Julia going from tree to ground. We were instructed to start running in the air so when we hit the ground we weren't dragged along!

Chelsea ready to go on Wild Turkey line. It was 1700 feet long and definitely a good ride!
View from the other side of the Wild Turkey. You can barely see the cable's length as it goes all the way up to the patch of green grass at the beginning of the line.
Video of a guy in our group coming across Wild Turkey. The high pitch whistle is coming from the cable.

The anchor end of the Wild Turkey line. Each zip line was engineered so well that it could hold the van plus more!
View of the valley.

Taking a small break before the last line.

The last line was a double zip line which is 1800 feet long. One of the guides is standing by the "take-off" point. The "landing" point is the small patch of dirt on the other hillside.

Across the small valley is the "landing" point of the double line.

A couple from our group are ready to go across the double line.
Video of the couple going across. We had to basically run until our feet left the ground.

Julia and Chelsea are going across the double line.

We survived! Ready to get in the van and go back down the hill.

That was a great experience! After we got home and got ready for dinner, I saw my big surprise from Ben which was....
....a stretch limo to take us to dinner!!

It was quite amazing inside with mini bars, dazzling lights, and mini TVs.

Riding in a limo made us all feel very important!

After dinner the limo took us home and it was time to say goodbye to our new pal.

Back at the house we had an ice cream cake. (If you can't read it, the pin on my dress says "Birthday Girl")

Happy 30th Birthday!

That's awesome! Except for saying goodbye to the limo - that sounds sad. But everything else sounds awesome!
